Resin Leaks, 001
Hi there 👋
Welcome to Resin Leaks! We welcome and congratulate you on taking your first step on this journey with us over at Uncured to gain more knowledge about all things additive and product design.
This monthly newsletter aims to bring specific points that can help you make relevant design decisions career choices or remain informed on industry trends.
So sit back, take a few minutes, read and enjoy! 😄
❗️ Be sure to take a browse over the blog as we’ll be continually updating this month with new articles and guides 💯
The newsletters don’t have a format except tying in one key thing about each sector (Additive, Technology, and Product Design). So we’ll be learning and changing with you as we go.
The Big Three:
These sections will break down one key thing in each of these industries, perhaps a few more depending on the impact in the industry.
What’s New in Additive?
Carbon3D Releases New M3 Series Platform 3D Printers
Major 3D Printing Equipment Manufacturer Carbon3D recently announced their new platform technology, M3 Series (M3 and M3 Max), enabling creators to ideate and create faster. Additive manufacturing will continue to decrease the time to production through continual innovation.
Check out our latest article on that.
The M3 Series printers use DLS technology which reduces the amount of force used during layer prints, reducing print failures. Typically print failures in this manner result in failed parts.
A few ways to mitigate this include:
Increase or strengthen support material in the right places
Increase cures times on the first and last layers to provide a better foundation
Use a good raft also aids with providing a better foundation
Decrease lifting speed
A significant difference between the M2 vs. M3 Series printer is the increase in production repeatability accuracy, from 40 to 37 microns. General accuracy also increased from 70 to 65 microns. These printers start at around $25,000. Hefty price, but the engineering quality behind the hardware and software is unmatched.
Fast Track in Technology
Apple Release Their Latest M1 Max Ultra Chip & Mac Studio
Today was the first Apple event of the calendar year.
Out of the latest updates such as the new version of the iPhone SE, fresh color to the iPhone, and the newest iPad Air, the announcement of the M1 Max Ultra Chip & Mac Studio takes the cake.
This product will continue to leap over the competition in performance and efficiency. Apple boasts “configurations of up to 128GB of high-bandwidth, low-latency unified memory that can be accessed by the 20-core CPU, 64-core GPU, and 32-core Neural Engine.”
This is the world’s most powerful chip in a personal computer to date.
I was extremely excited to see the introduction of the Mac Studio, powered by the M1 Ultra. The ability for creatives and engineers to continue to create and solve problems will be further enhanced and made possible with the releases of these two technologies.

Uniquely designed lighting fixtures use “aged brass, etched glass, leather, and porcelain.”
Could you 3D Print a similar design? 🧐 These are the questions I ask.
I’m building something similar with different functionalities that I plan on unveiling in the next few weeks 👀
Mindful Insight of the Month:
From the words of Sahil Lavinga, Creator of Gumroad:
How to grow - say yes to the things you cannot do.
We’re excited to have you all here and can’t wait to continue to build a fantastic community of tech enthusiasts, designers, engineers, and creatives!
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge our fellow humans in Ukraine undergoing a tremendous endeavor. It’s times like these that remind us how short life can be 💙 💛
We’ve laid out a few links if you wish to donate to help the families in Ukraine:
Thank you all for your time and support! ✌🏽
